The prosecution’s psychiatrist testified Friday that Lindsay Clancy was criminally responsible for killing her three children, directly rebutting the defense’s insanity case.

Dr. Avram Mack told jurors that Clancy was in control of her actions the day the children died, describing her conduct as methodical and organized.

“My opinion is that she retained the capacity required for having criminal responsibility for these actions,” Mack testified.

Clancy faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan. She does not dispute killing them but says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Dr. Avram Mack said his diagnosis for the 2022 to 2023 period was a major depressive episode, likely part of major depressive disorder, and possibly generalized anxiety disorder as well. Critically, he testified there was “never indication of any element of mania or hypomania” throughout that period.

His diagnosis contrasts sharply with the defense’s experts, who told jurors Clancy was in the grip of postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors have argued she acted knowingly and with intent.

Mack said the stressors she described included sadness about the case, her estrangement from her then-husband, her isolation and her physical injury. He clarified that “remorse” was his own summary of the conversation, not a word Clancy used.

The testimony came as the prosecution’s rebuttal sought to counter the defense’s postpartum psychosis case. Prosecutors have argued Clancy acted knowingly and with intent.

He said she seemed distressed by some topics and was tearful at one point, but that there was otherwise “nothing remarkable” on his mental status examination.

An expert for Lindsay Clancy’s defense testified Friday that the government’s own psychological test found Lindsay Clancy was not faking or exaggerating her symptoms.

Dr. Phillip Resnick, a forensic psychiatrist, said the MMPI test administered for the government showed Clancy tended to minimize, not exaggerate, her symptoms and showed no evidence of faking. He noted the test speaks more to symptoms than to whether someone is lying.

Prosecutors have argued Clancy acted with intent, pointing to evidence they say shows she searched the internet in the days before the killings, used maps to time how long her husband would be gone, and sent him out for takeout and medication to be alone with the children.

Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney told Fox News he feels “great” heading into what could be the final day of testimony, and said his client has been buoyed by the crowds gathering in her support.

“She’s so used to being just beaten down and feeling down and sad,” Kevin Reddington said of Clancy’s reaction to the supporters. “It was just amazing.”

Reddington said he would close the defense case with Dr. Phillip Resnick, whom he called perhaps the world’s foremost expert on filicide, the killing of a child by a parent. He said the prosecution would then call three rebuttal witnesses, which he dismissed as “entertainment.”

When Patrick Clancy took the stand in his ex-wife’s murder trial, he had already begun building a new life in New York City, more than four hours away from the Duxbury, Massachusetts, home where Lindsay Clancy killed their kids.

Lindsay Clancy, 36, faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children — Cora, Dawson and Callan, all under age 6 — who were found strangled at the family’s home in January 2023. The prosecution concluded its case Monday morning, and her defense attorney has since begun presenting arguments, asserting that she was in the grip of postpartum psychosis when she killed her children.

Patrick Clancy, a business applications sales executive at Microsoft, has since divorced Lindsay, relocated to New York City and wedded Dr. Rachel Danis in a Central Park ceremony in spring 2026. She reportedly moved into Patrick’s Upper East Side apartment in 2025.

He moved to New York City in spring 2023, just months after Lindsay Clancy killed their three children, according to public records obtained by the New York Post, and filed for divorce in February 2024.
