Lindsay Clancy murder trial: Expert says crisis line rejected her over ‘no plan’
Lindsay Clancy’s defense expert testified Wednesday that she repeatedly sought help in the weeks before she killed her three children, including calling a suicide hotline that turned her away because she did not have a plan to harm herself. The testimony is central to the defense’s argument that Lindsay Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis and is not criminally responsible. The judge is also weighing whether a former McLean Hospital employee will be allowed to testify.
Judge William Sullivan ended court early on Wednesday in the Lindsay Clancy trial, stating there was an “unforeseen circumstance.”
“Due to some an unforeseen circumstance. We’re going to, excuse you until tomorrow morning. This is, not something we saw coming, but you’re not to speculate about what it is. You’re not to hold it against either side. it’s just something that we have to deal with. All right. And so I’m going to excuse you until tomorrow morning,” Sullivan said
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington
told Fox News as he left court that Lindsay Clancy is aware of the solidarity gatherings planned in her support Wednesday. He would not say whether he has decided if Clancy will take the stand.
Reddington said he has one witness Wednesday, and the prosecution is expected to call three rebuttal witnesses. If those wrap up Wednesday, there will be no court Thursday. Closing arguments are set for Monday.
A psychologist who Lindsay Clancy sees told jurors on Wednesday that she thinks about her kids constantly and “misses them.”
Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, asked Dr. Paul Zeizel if Clancy ever talks about her children.
“And when you speak with her and meet with her doctor, has she ever mentioned her children? Because apparently, according to the questioning that you underwent, she never talks about her kids,” Reddington said.
“She does speak about her children,” Zeizel said. “She really loves them and misses them and thinks of them every single day. Almost every moment of the day.”
Patrick Clancy, the father of the three children Lindsay Clancy is on trial for killing, was seen publicly with his new wife for what appears to be the first time since the trial began, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported the couple was spotted together in Manhattan as testimony continues in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial in Massachusetts.
A suicide hotline turned Lindsay Clancy
away because she did not have a “plan” to kill herself, a psychologist testified Wednesday.
Dr. Paul Zeizel told jurors Clancy called a crisis line on Dec. 4, 2022, weeks before she killed her three children, and was told she did not meet the standard of care because she had no plan. He said she called again days later and again received no help.
